Slow Cooker Comfort

There is nothing that makes you feel like sitting around and eating comfort food more than a rainy day. Whether it is a pot of chili, roast beef, chicken and dumplings, or just a giant cup of hot chocolate while being cuddled up under a blanket, comfort food is the best for a rainy day. Times like this are when I enjoy my slow cooker the most. It is easy cooking at its finest and makes the whole house smell like happiness. Want your house to smell like baked apples? Toss some apples with flour, cinnamon, and sugar and dump them in with about a cup of water and about a cup of brown sugar and a little butter for about 4-6 hours on low and, whala! Your house smells like heaven and you have baked apples! Have a picky family? Throw in 3-4 large chicken breasts then sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and pour in about 1/3 a cup of apple cider vinegar (or water if you want it more plain) and leave on low for around 8 hours. Whala! Pull it apart with a couple of forks and you have shredded chicken! Lay out bowls and BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce, salsa, ranch, sour cream, and cheese, and everybody can put chicken in their bowl and mix it with whatever sauce they want and mix it up for a tortilla, bun, on a baked potato, or on a salad. Picky eaters, you are defeated!
Enjoy your rainy day, or even just any day you want to make cooking a little easier.
