To all fans whose teams lost this weekend, Drinking Chefs would like to extend a heartfelt apology and to remind you that while it may seem like the end of the world that the great state of Alabama will lose the National Championship trophy for the first time in 4 years, in actuality the "end" of the world shouldn't happen until 12-21-2012.
In order to help you mask your pain, I urge you to eat.
It is comfort food season, so start with sides. Mac n' cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, bread (lots of bread) and more bread. Next main courses. Chicken n' Dumplings, Chicken n' Rice, Beef Stroganoff, lots of bread. Don't forget dessert now. Chocolate Cake, cookies, bread puddings, ice cream (now that is a particularly good comfort food as it spans the seasons).
Point is, either way the world might be over, right? So enjoy the foods of the season now! And if the world doesn't end, you can always state that your New Year's Resolution will be losing weight.
