Pancakes from Scratch

Homemade pancakes are the best kind, so show someone you love them and make them some pancakes!

  • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbs butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • cooking spray


Measure out your milk, and let your milk and your eggs sit out for about 5 minutes before starting. Put your baking powder, salt and sugar into a large bowl and sift in your flour. (The sifting makes the pancakes fluffier, so I wouldn't skip it.) In a small bowl on the side, beat your egg with milk, butter, and vanilla. Make a well in your flour and pour in your liquid. Mix until smooth.
Heat a griddle or pan on medium high heat and spray with cooking spray. Scoop batter onto hot pan into as large of a pancake as you would like. Let sit until you start to see bubbles all over the top of the batter, which should mean the bottom is brown. Flip and brown the other side. Whala! Domestic classic achieved!
