Shortcake Biscuit

Sweet dessert biscuit

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt (sour cream, or plain yogurt would be fine too, nothing sweet though)
  • 1/3 cup butter or shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

Directions

Soften butter

Preheat oven to 400

Combine yogurt, butter, and egg, beat till smooth. Mix dry ingredients (the rest o' the list) and add to yogurt mixture. Dough should be sticky but holds shape. If it isn't, add flour a tablespoon at a time till consistency is reached. Get a 1/3 measuring cup out and drop enough dough in to fill cup. On a greased baking sheet, drop biscuits down each biscuit touching the one next to it. Bake at 400 for 12-15 minutes or until top is golden brown and bottom is browned as well. The top looks prettier than the bottom!

Pair with poached pears for a late summer and early fall treat!
