Spiked Hot Cocoa with Homemade Whipped Cream

- Spiked Hot Cocoa
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup hot water
- ¾ gallon milk
- 6-8 oz Kahlua or 4-6 oz rum, depending on taste (optional)
- Homemade Whipped Cream
- 1 pint heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Add your first three ingredients into a large pot and whisk together over medium heat. Once this is well blended, add your milk and let sit over medium heat until hot. Do not let this come to a boil. Once it hits the desired heat, move temperature to low, or put into a crock-pot on the keep warm setting. If you want to spike it at this point, add in Kahlua or rum.
In a large bowl, pour your whipping cream and powdered sugar and whisk. And whisk. And whisk. Yes, we wrote it three times because it may take a while... after whisking for about 5 minutes, it should start to thicken. In a matter of moments, it will go from a liquid to a solid. There ya go! Whipped cream to top your hot cocoa with!
